In Loving Memory

Concepcion (Connie) Davila Douglas, 88, was called upon by our Lord and Savior on Saturday August 16,2014 at St Francis Nursing Home in San Antonio,TX. She was born on June 7, 1926 in San Antonio,TX to Manuel and Domitila (Aguilar) Davila. Connie lived her life in San Antonio where she attended Collins Garden Elementary, Harris Junior High and Burbank High School. Her marriage to Charles Conrad Douglas in February 21, 1944 meant an early departure from Burbank without her diploma. Though she would earn her GED almost 35 years later, she would be a new mother before the end of 1944. Connie was the mother of 10 children over the next two decades, a time that was not without its hardship, but never short of her love of God and family. She was married to Charles Conrad Douglas from Feb 21, 1944 until his passing on Aug 2 1969. She was able to raise a family and dedicate service to her parish. Her parish, St.Philip of Jesus Catholic Church is where all her children attended grade school and she was: president of the Guadalupana Society organizing group trips to the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan, member of the Altar Society, member of the Legion of Mary, received an award from the Archdiocese for her outstanding volunteer work and where she began a career managing the school cafeteria from 1964 to 1979. Her love of cooking and keeping children happy were the only prerequisites she needed to succeed in her new job. She did not rest until all the students were fed and the last dish was put away. The best compliment she received was on every Friday, the menu would be enchiladas and the whole school would dine in. Connie began a second career in 1983 manufacturing computers for Datapoint Corporation, a job she performed until 1995. Her ultimate career was her family and Connie always sacrificed for them all. She loved her children immensely, regardless of all the trials and tribulations that are included in a large family and she will be dearly missed. She was always there to offer a kind word and her maternal instincts made everyone feel as if they were part of the family. Her sense of humor and quick wit is lives on through her children's personas as laughter was in abundance at the Douglas household. Her warm smile and kind heart will be missed by all. We Love You, Mom Connie was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Domitila Davila; her brothers Manuel Davila and Edmund Davila; sister-in-law Gloria Davila; daughter-in-law Grace Douglas; her children Elizabeth(Adolph) Cristo, Pasqual Douglas, Roland Douglas and son-in-law Emilio Hernandez. Connie is survived by her children Charles (Charo) Douglas, Rose(Daniel) Campos, Daniel(Annette) Douglas, daughter-in-law Irma Douglas, Peter Douglas, Marion(Cruz) Douglas, Marie Hernandez and Joseph Douglas; her brother Daniel Davila; sister-in-law Socorro Davila; sisters Delia(John) Rodriguez and Alice(Ken) Jones; her 30 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with a host of nieces/nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
